How do you help someone if they wont listen.

I've been trying to help my friends through the darkest time in her life but she refuses to go and talk to someone, find a job that makes her happier, change anything. I tell her she ca't stay like this that if she wants to feel better she has to actually DO something because nothing is going to change if she doesn't. I've told her to paint her room a color she likes, do something that makes her happy like photography. She wont do anything and it's causing her pain. I don't know what else to do. I want to get harsher than what I have been but I'm scared if I do i'll push her too hard. i couldn't live with myself if I did that.
